Robert Rig
Will the Robert Rig work with my cameras?
Probably. The Robert Rig is compatible with a wide-range of cameras. However, there are certain combinations of camera bodies and lenses that may not work. Please contact us to confirm your cameras will work with the Robert Rig.
Does the Robert Rig record full-color 3D?
Yes, the Robert Rig records full-color 3D images. Once the images are recorded, you have the ability to output them into any of the 3D viewing formats including: Anaglyph, DCP, Lenticular, Side-by-Side, Over/Under, etc
Why a beamsplitter? Can't I just record side-by-side?
Generally, you will need a beamsplitter to record good 3D anytime you are less than 10 feet from your subject. We will cover this in depth in an upcoming tutorial. Side-by-side configurations force the use of longer lenses which flatten the 3D effect.
How much does the rig weigh? How big is it?
The Robert Rig weighs about 11 pounds and is roughly 9" x 11" x 10" It fits well inside a Pelican 1620 hardcase.
Can I change the interaxial while shooting?
Yes, the sliders on the Robert Rig allow you to either lock them in place or move during shooting. The scales on top and rear also allow you to hit your marks precisely.
What about using a follow-focus?
Yes, a follow-focus will also work assuming it fits on the rig. While we can't guarantee your particular combination of cameras and focus assist will fit, we can say that several users have successfully pulled focus with the Robert Rig.
